How did you get started in the organizing business?
I think the best way to explain how Let’s Get It Together came about is to share my personal story. In 2006, I was a happily married newlywed. My husband JR and I had been married for less than a year when I found myself facing some very difficult challenges. I had to find balance and bring two full households into one. I’ve always been a rather organized person but these challenges were brand new to me and frankly, I was completely overwhelmed.
As a new wife, ministry leader, and corporate manager, I tried to convince myself that I had it all. Eventually I was forced to admit that working late hours, commuting home, falling asleep watching TV, paying bills and attending church – only to get up the next week and repeat the same was so tough for me. I desperately wanted to get off what felt like an endless roller-coaster ride. While seeking to know God’s will like never before, He led me to follow my passion. Helping women who were overwhelmed and chronically disorganized was clearly part of God’s plan for me and Let’s Get It Together was born out of that vision.
As my business grew, I worked with more women teaching them how to organize their homes and businesses. I found one common denominator amongst my clients that struck a chord with me. Their lives were often filled with spiritual, mental or physical clutter and most were overwhelmed and desperately looking for help to get the clutter under control.
Professional organizing is a ministry for me. I approach things from a non-judgmental perspective. Helping women of God get organized and live a life they enjoy is an honor. Fact is, while women hire me to help them organize their stuff, they don’t usually realize that the problem is not just external – like a disorganized closet or pantry. The real problem is internal. Having too many pairs of shoes, piles of clutter in the garage, or constantly running late and missing appointments is an outward manifestation of an inward condition.
I now spend my time helping women reconcile what’s in their heart with what’s in their head, so that their external environments and lifestyle reflect and support their spiritual beliefs, values, hopes and dreams. In other words, I help Christian women get organized and simplify their lives so that they are empowered to embrace God’s purpose and live a life that glorifies Him.
